Friday Favourite: Aloe Heat Lotion AKA Migraine Melter & Stress Saviour!

I suffer with migraines, well jel aren't you?!

My migraines stem from my shoulders and neck and are brought on by stress and hormones ( blooming Oestrogen!).

I've got absolute boulder shoulders that are constantly tight and knotty.  As I don't have a small fortune to spend on an On-call Massage Therapist, if such a person actually exists, I rely on the amazing Aloe Heat Lotion.

It is a rich emollient lotion containing deep-heating agents, along wth the penetrating power of aloe vera, it will sooth away stresses and strains of daily life.

I apply it to my shoulders and back of my neck just under my occipital bone, (yeah I know my biology shiz!) and it soothes and warms my muscles in a jiffy.  The menthol aroma is so soothing too, ideal for clearing blocked noses and sinuses.

You can also apply a small amount to your temples in nice circular motions to relieve any tension headaches.

The Heat Lotion is obviously amazing for after sports, a gym session, if you suffer from achy joints, bad backs, or if you are ever feeling under the weather and all achy :( .

This stays in my gym bag and I apply a small amount to my joints and lower back before my Ashtanga yoga sessions, it helps to warm them up which really helps with my Asanas.

The Beauty of a BB Creme

I was always dubious about BB crème's after having lots of disappointing dabbles with tinted moisturisers, they just didn't give the coverage or finish that I wanted- frustrating!

SO glad I gave this beauty a try! Aloe BB Crème is an Aloe Vera based Beauty Balm.  It applies like a delicate dream, gives medium coverage to your skin and leaves you with  a flawless finish Beyoncé would be envious of!

It also provides an SPF of 20, without that white residue, other SPF containing make-up can leave- who wants slimy white skin...not me!

My skin feels fresh and light in this BB crème,  as opposed to heavy and clogged when wearing a foundation.

Another benefit of this crème and the full Flawless by Sonya range is that it is NEVER tested on animals! Yay! Wins all round!

Available to purchase here!

Have you tried a BB crème? What's your favourite brand? What kind of coverage do you like?

Friday Favourite - Aloe Vera Hand & Face Soap

Yes it's a Hand & Face Soap, Yes, that is a Gillete Venus Razor beside and YES I use these 2 to shave my legs and I get THE smoothest shave and with no irritation!

This one night when I was lucky enough to have the time and energy to make an effort with myself, I ran out of my usual shaving gel (typical!) and had nearly used all of the hubby's, (sssshhhh don't tell him) and this little beauty of a multi-use product was sitting on the side of my bath, so I thought I'd give it a whirl for shaving my legs. I was so surprised that I didn't get any razor burn or irritation afterwards, I usually get itchy red rash but not this time, no siree!

I don't know why I was surprised as obviously the Aloe Vera inside the soap is a natural healer and soother  and this wash lathered up like a dream!.

So if you didn't already use this as a hand soap, a face soap, bubble bath, make up cleanser, baby wash.....the list goes on///then give it a whirl as your shaving,  medium???.

My Clean 9 Journey ..before and after photos!

Well its Day 10, that means I've completed my C9 body cleanse programme. Yippee!

I feel so good, my hair is glossier, my skin is smoother and less breakouts, I'm less bloated, my cellulite has improved (still a long way to go with that though!) but best of all, I am less lethargic and I have a boost of self confidence.

The self confidence doesn't just result from my weight or inch loss or the results in the before and after pictures, but I feel so proud of myself for completing it successfully.

I have learnt so much and feel so motivated to continue with the healthy lifestyle.  It has helped to change my mind-set about food and I now see food as a source of nutrition and energy instead of a pleasure or comfort source.

One thing I didn't do very well at was drinking enough water throughout the cleanse, I feel my results would have been even more amazing ( cellulite be gone! ) if id have improved on that.

So below are my before and after photos, for I can't beleive I'm posting these into cyberspace for all to see, but hey ho!

I'm continuing to take my Aloe Gel, my supplements and my protein shakes.

I'm also going to treat myself to a monthly Personal Training session to keep me on form with my exercise routine.

If anybody wants some nformation on the c9 or to purchase one then feel free to add me on Facebook Leigh Georgina Wilkes, Comment here or visit my   Online Shop

How to have a more productive day!

I am a very good procrastinator.  I tend to find 'something else to do', I can put something off like a pro, yeah I've got a pile of ironing that's nearly as tall as me, do I care, yes I do actually, but I still haven't done it, I've decided to write a blog post about being productive and proactive instead.

But, I'm beginning to be more proactive, with a 14 month old cheeky little boy,  you have to plan, you have to be organised, you have to just get shit done.  Of course you don't have to, people can live how they want to live, but I cope better using the below techniques.

Make a list

Plan your Day

Have a daily routine

Have an achievable time scale

Do one of your tasks before 9am

Don't plan to tackle too many things in one day

If you're feeling overwhelmed with how many tasks you have to complete, a list helps to clear your mind and get tasks down on paper, I'm old school I like pen and paper, then you can start to prioritise what you wish to complete first.

That feeling when crossing off one of your tasks on the list tho'.

Who else lives for lists?
What's on your list for today?

My Changed opinion on Soothers AKA Dummies, Pacifiers,

Before I had Charlie, before I was pregnant with Charlie, before I was even thinking about planning for Charlie, I had an uninformed opinion on dummies.  I went along with the hype that all they are used for is to stop the baby crying, to shut the kid up, believed they were the cause of goofy teeth, would be a nightmare to try and get the child to give up and have to bribe them with toys, sweets, cold hard cash etc.  Some people still have this opinion and that is cool.

Then Charlie came along, so did colic, so did silent reflux, so did 23 hours of screaming a day (I may have contributed to that total!).  I’ll probably do a separate post about Charlie's colic and reflux and the struggles we had, even if it’s just to “type it out” as some sort of self-therapy session.  I’ll go into details about it in that post but just a taster as to how bad it was, I would have to have somebody help to hold Charlie’s, screaming, bright red, violently moving head and clamp it onto my nipple in order for him to be able to feed, he would feed CONSTANTLY yet still scream, before he was even 2 weeks old he managed to commando crawl the length of our bed as he was writhing in pain that much, he resembled a crazed animal. So surreal and heart-breaking to see your new-born doing this.

I would pace the whole house, shushing like I’ve never shushed before, from about 5pm till 2am, whilst he scratched my face as well as his own, in order to get him to settle briefly enough to fall asleep.  All 3 of us were exhausted, emotional, angry and worried.

On the husband’s orders, I begrudgingly shoved a dummy into Charlie’s gob.

Then the screaming fits, although they didn’t disappear, certainly shortened, they calmed a bit, Charlie fed better, he started to act like a normal human. We all got a bit of peace.  I was less worried to go out and about with this scary creature. I started to enjoy him.

I’m not saying dummies are the answer to a medical condition, the must have parenting tool or a definite thing to purchase, I also know that every parent is different and if someone doesn’t want their baby to have a dummy, then that is great too.  Dummies won’t suit every baby, and Charlie was still unsettled until we found the magic concoction of milk and medicines that worked for him.  But the dummy helps to SOOTHE the baby, provides some comfort and takes their little minds off the pain and uncomfortableness whilst they suck away on that little pacifier, if only for a short time.
Plus, they look so cute!

My fave soothers for Charlie are the Avent ones (2 in a pack) , they do cute trendy designs, the night time ones GLOW IN THE DARK!! and every dummy comes with a protective cap so they are hygienic and safe to carry about with you.  I get them when Asda do the 2 for £6 offer.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Did anyone think the same as me? Has anyone had their opinion changed on anything else after having children?

Clean 9 Days 1 & 2!

Half way through Day 2 of the C9 cleanse and I feel great.

Image pinned from http://thegreenforks.com

The first 2 days of the 9 day programme are designed to reset your body and mind.  This is especially helpful with it being January and I got into the habit of picking on naughty foods throughout the day and the occasional treat ended up happening about 3 times a day!

I'm really feeling the benefits of the cleanse already, I feel less bloated and have a lot of energy (maybe not ready for jumping in the air yet but still), the Forever Therm tablets are helping fight the fatigue and tiredness!

Image from http://awandafulthing.com

Plus I can feel my mindset changing already...I used to be that person who before I'd even finished my breakfast, I'd be thinking of lunch.

I also used to binge eat in secret. (wow, putting that out there is scary!)

I'm so happy I'm making positive changes to my health. Eat for Health, Nourish your Body, Believe in Aloe.
